Summary
In the center of this article is the problem of “completeness” and “incompleteness” of a literary text from the point of view of an aesthetic aspect of perception of a text. The purpose is to define whether the text of N. Gogol The Dead Souls is self-sufficient. The aims of the work are to study the comments of critics and on their basis and to draw the conclusions that correspond to the problem of the work.
