Summary
Two great novels, Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov and V. by Thomas Pynchon, were written in the 20th century. It is difficult to imagine that the world of Bulgakov’s Moscow and Ershalaim can resemble the mystical and fantastic world of V.; there are, however, some common points: common images, symbols and problems. In the article, a special attention is given to the nature, its symbolism, and to the problem of „artificiality and naturalness”.
