Summary

The object of the present study is the popular television situational comedy Friends. The article looks into the themes of jokes used in the show, discusses which themes are the most popular and well-received by the audience. After grouping the funny jokes into different themes, the list of sixty-five themes of jokes was determined. The material is taken from the episodes of the first, fourth, sixth, eighth and the last seasons in order to find out which are the most often used themes of jokes throughout all the chosen seasons of Friends, and observe the best examples of them. The list of the top ten themes of jokes is provided in the article.
